Rhythm by Jenni Fagan

IN THE BEGINNING, ALL IS BEAT

The first thing felt, beat, heard, beat,
seen in blackened red? Beat.

In the beginning all is beat.

All the wheels that turn, beat. Staccato
rain lashes tin, beat. Marching sleet soldiers
spit cadence to a concrete haze, beat.

Tired weary that is my heart, beat.

Beat righteous.
Beat true.

My dead friend, beat, says it’s strange
to stare unblinking at the Universe
when you can’t take in nor out a breath, beat.

First the beat, last the beat, all the time between, beat.

Neanderthal man stomp on dusty floors, beat.
Voodoo and the queen of time, beat.

Before the fires, beat, in the bang, beat,
the unknown evermore, beat, beat, beat.

This is the beat that you know and you hear,
you first met flying in blackened red,
beat, infinite first of ends, beat.

Beat righteous.
Beat true.

This island floating in space, beat,
lust beat, hate beat, horror pain decay, beat.

Volcanoes erupting oceans of lava
five hundred billion
years ago, beat, beat, beat.

The first things beat and the first thing heard was beat
which they then on and thereafter knew, beat.

In beat
the beginning
the flying the seeking
beat ever repeating
beat words beat song beat soul,
first beginning of ends, beat
in song the beat began beat
it is beat begins the song

beat.

Find your Soul's Rythm

Listen to It,

Move with It,

Smile along with it.

for then you partake in Creation,

Moving with all energie in Motion.

Movements of being,

The Circle of Life

of Music and Rythm.

Never ending

Everlasting

Rhythm by Erato

Rythme d’une vie brisée
Bancale
Elle s’est mise à boiter
De sa fenêtre, les matins d’hiver
Elle peut voir les feuilles
Encore fragilement accrochées
Danser, frétiller comme des poissons
Au rythme d’un vent tourbillon
Elle n’a pas le son
C’est un film muet
L’histoire ?

Joy by Maddy

"Joy"

I truely want to feel Joy
I am on a journey
making this possible in my Choice,
I wake up and my first thought
is gratefulness...
I am blessed for having all
my working sensess.
Even if yesterday turned
a total mess..."

By forgetting Who we Are,
we have chosen the worst so far!
Please let us all turn this around,
Choose good, choose Love,
Choose common ground.
Where only Joy will be found!!"

Joy by Erato

Joy

Precious as a jewel
Easy to create as a jingle
I have my everyday joys
Simple collocations of different elements
Cappuccino cig trees air in motion sun
But there is the joy
The unique fragile ephemeral unexpected one
The same that raptures all my senses
Comme une vague sur la mediterrannee
Inattendue mais tellement esperee
Elle froisse ma tranquillite
Et a l intense sensation me fait gouter
It is an art
Knowing how to grab this surreal fleeting
Delicious moment
When I can feel I am not dead
My joy is aquatic
Soft as the blue color
But electric
It is as an unforgettable gift
To life

Unoriginal by leo difiore

Unoriginal

You copied me,
Word for word,
Every nuance
Exactly the same,
Subtle right tilt
And no paragraph,
You even used
A red biro,
Just as
I had,
The tear at
The left corner,
Same length
And gradient,
Even though it
Ripped by chance.

Realistic portrayal

The battle,
All pith
And bravado,
Raged on
So violently
,For all of
Five minutes.

Little Discoveries-Greek/Eng- by ChriStina StouRaiti

This poem was read by Christina at PW's first poetry evening at Ashbee's wine bar. The evening was international in flavour to reflect the diversity of the city of London. We had a packed house with entertainment in the form of poetry, music and comedy

"Little Discoveries"

"Little discoveries
of myself
and another's.

Faithful looks
like in a mirror.

With words naturally woven
and bodies buttoned together.

Suddenly, but, at the same time, not.
Against and in harmony.

Within a reflection of self
a terrifying mirroring and echo.

A few frawning looks,
but mostly
shiny eyes
and a heart that takes a breath.

Thought runs at last beyond."

Change by Sarah Leech-Black

"Change"
Her pocket change jingles
to the beat of the bum's maraca : coins in a styrofoam cup.

He smells of abandon and sweet, dark rum
the same stale scent she wears, on a Friday night out at the pub

She drops 10p, hears it clank
he grunts and shift a sort of 'thanks'
a gentle modest exchange

Leaves on a tree, a toothless grin
So much of life is change
still ,the constant of humanityremains

"My Imagination" by Maddy

This poem was read by Maddy at PW's first poetry evening at Ashbee's wine bar. Afrikaans followed by the English translation. The evening was international in flavour to reflect the diversity of the city of London. We had a packed house with entertainment in the form of poetry, music and comedy.

"My Verbeeling"

Ek het gesit en gedink,
Dit is soos dit is,
Soos dit was,
Soos dit altyd sal wees.

As die laast sonstrale ondergaan,
Wanneer die bome staan en hulle blare afval,
So droom ek.
So wonder ek.

Wys my die kleur
Die kleur van jou Siel
Wys my die kleur
Die kleur van jou Hart

Ek sit en dink
Dit is soos dit is,
Soos dit was,
Soos dit altyd sal wees.

"My Imagination"

I sat and I thought,
It is like it is,
Like it was,
Like it always will be.

As the last rays of sunlight disappears,
When the trees stand tall and the leafs fall down,
I dream.I wonder.

Show me the colour
The colour of your Soul
Show me the colour
The colour of you Heart

I sit and I think
It is like it is,
Like it was,
Like it always will be.

Change by Justine Mclaughlin

Fly

You watched the change
Why does my end always become your start
You slowly dissected me
Until I fell apart
First the wings
So I could no longer fly
You took away my tears
So I could no longer cry
you watched me change
from fullness to a shell
you kept your distance
my room a cell
you watched me change
I don’t remember who I am
Or where it all began
But I remember loving you
Now there’s nothing left to do
Ill just have to watch for change

City by Christina Stouraiti

I’m creating a map of London
I walk the distances
between the stations
and link them.

I predict the next stop
I discover new shortcuts.
And I make the city mine
at last.
Without forgetting to smile
every time I pass over
a bridge
that reminds me
I’m still here.

City by Annette

Belfast
The Hills had eyes; a city touched and horrified
Its bloodied hands embraced me as I struggled to find home.
‘Beal Feirste’, the river’s mouth: the tides turned yet circled
into peaceful lapping. The seagulls merrily squawked;
As I voiced place-names: Royal Avenue, The Albert Clock
In the Docks Samson and Goliath stood proud; in peace.
Its people. Their words rose; welcomed the stranger.
Warmth, strength. The Lagan flows its tranquil length
